Think what can life display
But pretty scene and sunny day!
Then and there, it is hard to find
What can delight the body and the mind.
But now, east of the town
There are pleasure garden and phoenix tower.
Why not float down
On sparkling waves reflecting green and golden bower?
Plane leaves are steeped in dew,
And mist veils willow trees.
Green shades wave in the breeze;
Here and there wafts the vernal hue.
Come back to painted hall,
The poets meet
The ladies sweet
With jade hairpin and jasper pendants one and all.
After singing for long, we relight candles red
And sit at banquet table sumptuously spread.
Like flying swan the dancer's body light
Would bring shower in the night.
She opens rouged lips
And slowly sings bewitching song
As warbling notes the oriole on flowers drips.
She dances and whirls along,
Lowering cloudy hair and dimpled face so tender.
She looks so faint and feeble for her waist is slender.
How can I bear
To part with Rainbow Cloud so fair!
Where can she be found when the sun is sunk?
Don't refuse to get drunk
Nor waste the golden hour
Beneath the moon, before the flower!
great lines, wonderful words, beautiful poem. I love this poem because i connect with it and i nderstand the hidden message inside. Great work.
