These are some beautiful cactus

in #plants3 years ago (edited)

Good Day everyone today I was about to pay to fill up my cars gas tank and spotted these nice and beautiful looking cactus and I decided to start buying a few of them, I actually bought the ones that look like the rose cactus just because of how they looked. When I got home I started to do some research and found a good heaping amount but I will only give a short briefing of the benefits, first of all plants (and trees as well but today I wont be talking about trees) are what produces the oxygen that we need and some are edible, they have a lot of health benefits especially if the succulent can produce fruits, not all of the fruits are edible some are sweet some pack a punch in your tastebuds.

The rose cactus succulent for example which in the photo it is located at the bottom right, normally it is used as a dietary vegetable, barrier hedge, water purifier, and insect repellant and for maintaining health, detoxification, prevention of cancer, and/or treatment of cancer, hypertension, diabetes, stomach ache, muscle pain, and inflammatory diseases such as dermatitis and rheumatism.
Just to warn anyone who likes to eat the cactus succulent leaves there are two types of potentially toxic succulents when touched or eaten that you should try to avoid. These are Euphorbia succulents and Kalanchoe succulents.

Euphorbia is a huge genus composed of plants with milky sap, including spurges and poinsettias they are strange spiny, contorted and crested the white sap is related to latex and can cause a skin allergy, they are sometimes mistaken for cacti due to their similar appearance

Kalanchoe plants are thick-leaved succulents that are seen in florist shops or garden centers. They contain compounds that can be deadly to cats, dogs, and birds so if you have one try to be cautious with them.
