Yes it is fun! Some time ago, I announced on Reddit that I built a software to generate pixel art images from any images with the possibility to edit, draw, and deeply process the low-res image, I told myself, great, everything seems good for this trend/hobby to see my stuff coming and people will like it.
Comments were like: Huh this isn't pixel art, that's not how pixel art works and a lot of down-votes. I think it will better work with Instagram users rather than 11 years old Reddit user which are outrageously unfair over an algorithm competing with their skills.
