#856 - Today's Shots at Famed Patapat Viaduct in Ilocos Norte.
Lovely evening wonderful people of Hive. I was out early today and had to be awake at four in the morning and prepped the breakfast for me and my son. I went to the office around five because we are asked to report to the office. I left there at three and back home by five in the afternoon. Tomorrow early morning I don't have a work but still need to wake up early to prepare breakfast. Then at five when my wife is already out at work, we will be on our way to Atok and Bakun, Benguet and hopefully the weather is sunny when we arrive there. We will be climbing the famed Mount Kabunian as they call it, it's about nine kilometers of trek going there so hopefully we can finish that all on Thursday.
Now for our daily shots, it's about our experience when we went to Patapat with our son. It was our second day of stay in this last town of the north called Pagudpud which is also the boundary between Cagayan and Ilocos region. As we stood atop the Patapat Viaduct, the wind whipped through our hairs as the salty tang of the sea filled the lungs. Before us is a breathtaking panorama, a seemingly endless expanse of azure water stretching out to meet the horizon.
The viaduct itself was an architectural marvel, its concrete beams arcing gracefully over the rocky coastline like a giant's finger. And there, nestled amidst the curves and bends, was a stunning sight: the sea below, dotted with feather clouds that seemed to have been plucked from the heavens themselves and scattered across the water.
Here's the signage signifying the start of the Ilocos norte region. Riders hailing from different parts of the country pay tributes by leaving behind their riding badges indicating their presence was here.
As we stood here, bathed in the warm glow of the moving sun, it did felt a deep connection to this place – a sense of wonder and reverence that transcended words. The Patapat Viaduct was more than just a bridge; it was a portal to another world – a realm where the boundaries between earth, sea, and sky were blurred, and the beauty of creation reigned supreme.
One of the local foods this province is proud of is this orange empanadas. Dipped fried veggies in an roll, just need to add vinegar as its dipping sauce and all is set. My son loves eating this and so he had all his chances to eat as much empanadas as he could while we were in this province.
Lastly is the moment of Dodong and Inday, me and the wife spending quality time together as much as we could even though we don't have much but the memories of places we traveled too are there and we could talk about it for hours when we get old and brittle it able to walk or climb mountains or travel anymore.
Follow me on my nature travels.
