I have fallen behind in my duties of "identifier the diverse plant life". In this stunning picture we see a variety of coniferous trees which in Vancouver could be Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, Sitka Spruce. Grand Fir, Bigleaf Maple, and/or Garry Oak. 1
What I found to be even more interesting and exciting is about the moss. According to the blog Vancouver Island Big Trees;
British Columbia possesses the richest diversity of mosses, or bryophytes, in Canada. B.C.'s huge collection of mosses is greater than the combined mosses of all of the U.S. west of the Rocky Mountains. That's major moss.
Oh, wow, what a great analysis! I just learned something - thank you! I've always taken moss for granted, but it's cool (and not surprising given the climate) that there's so much variety in B.C.
