Rajshahi College is the most oldest college in Bangladesh, after Dhaka College and Chittagong College. Its Established in 1873 and the college become one of the main centers of higher education for the inhabitans for East Bengal, North Bengal, Bihar, Purulia and asam.

Rajshahi College was the first institution in the territories to offer bachelor and honours digree courses in vasious desciplines since 1878. The postgraduate Departments in Arts and in Law started in 1881 and continued till 1909 when they were withdrawn because the collage could not meet the requirements of the new regulations of the University of Culcatta but started again 1993 under the affiliation of National University.
