Very interesting to see these things from above, and then follow up later; we've done that a few times, too.
What's particularly interesting about this is to consider the sheer amount of water it would take to cause that much noticeable erosion in a place that is now basically desert! Those are some deep and distinctive canyons there. Adds a whole new perspective to the whole idea of "climate change!"

Yes, it is mind-boggling to think of the forces of erosion over time and how much water as you said would be needed. Then to think for that to happen, this location was under glaciers at some point. Crazyness.
