Exploring Pike Place Market, Seattle !

in #photography7 years ago

THE ENTRANCE

When me and my husband were in America we wanted to make sure we saw all the famous spots! And as it was my husbands first time in America I wanted to make sure it was memorable! We had seen from all travel books that Pike Place Market was one of Seattle's most famous sites so we just had to go! We got the bus into the city and found our way to the entrance of Pike Place Market, we were so excited to go inside and from what we could see from the entrance we were eager to go explore! The sign "Public Market Center" was all lit up and the hustle and bustle of shoppers was all around!

We got a few different angles of this famous tourist spot! We always take our cameras with us on trips like this and its fun to try and get different shots than we'e seen in books or magazines, and also compare shots between ourselves too!

THE FOOD MARKETS STALLS

Inside we were greeted with lots of food stalls, including fish, eggs, meat... all you could think of! The fish place would throw fish to an audience member and put on quite a show!

RACHEL THE PIGGY BANK

We came across "Rachel the Piggy Bank" who is the mascot of Pike Place Market and has been fundraising since 1986! The legend says that if you rub her nose and make a donation its good luck! You can read more about Rachel here : http://pikeplacemarket.org/rachel-piggy-bank

FRESH PRODUCE

I can imagine that a lot of locals come here for some fresh food, there were lots of stalls selling live crabs and sea food fresh from the sea!

MARKET MAGIC SHOP

I love some Magic so was delighted when we came across the Market Magic Shop, they had so much stuff! Including fortune telling devices outside so I of course tried one!

THE FLOOR TILES

We noticed all the tiles on the floor had names apparently they date as far back as 1985, nearly 55,000 tiles were laid on the Market floor to honor donors who helped “Care for the Market” during Pike Place Market Foundation’s renovation campaigns. Amazing to see!

WONDERFUL SHOPS

I've always loved unique finds, I am really into crystals and all that kind of thing so I was so excited to see so many shops selling all these kinds of treasures for me to forage in! There were shops for everyone, selling an array of handmade goods to antique finds, I was in my element!!

THE BACK VIEW

We managed to find our way out the back entrance to look at the view and take it all in! It really is a maze inside the market so it was lovely to get some fresh air and then head back in!

ENTERTAINERS

There were lots of people entertaining the tourists with music! Was such a great atmosphere! When we visit places like this it's not all about the sights, we love the people and atmosphere too, it all adds to the character of the place, and we can safely say Pike Place Market has so much going for it !

FIRST EVER STARBUCKS

Although I am not a coffee drinker it was still great to see the first ever Starbucks shop that opened in 1971!

GREAT DAY OUT

Pike Place Market is a must if you are ever in Seattle, we had so much fun, there is so much to see and do!

I've never been there but I feel the love in this city :)

There was so much love ! I can't wait to go back some day!

Thanks for the tour.
I really dig the very last picture.

Thanks for reading, and glad you love the picture at the end!

Nice n fantastic work... I lov yr work.

Thank you!

Great photos! Can't wait to visit there some day myself! Happy traveling!

Thanks, you'll love it Im sure!

Wow! It's my dream yo visit pike because of the first starbucks store.. cool shots..👌👍

Definitely check out some of the indie coffee stands if some Java is your cup of tea. We have amazing coffee in the Seattle area and Starbucks doesn’t do it justice.

I don't drink coffee so can't comment but great place to visit non the less!

@vtravels Congrats for having one of your best performing post on Steemit! :) I'm going to visit the US for the first time next year. Will definitely share it on Steemit too :)

Awesome! And thank you!

Thanks for sharing your lovely experience in Seattle! Pike Place is super fun even if you’ve been a bazillion times. I know some people who got married nearby and stopped at the market for photos and the bride got to throw a fish to her hubby....in her gown.

Wow that would be amazing! We are wedding photographers so I imagine that's so fun to have a Bride and Groom do that! We have to say that Seattle was one of, if not our favourite city we visited in America, it just had such an amazing atmosphere! Thank you for reading :)

I’m a wedding photographer also....about an hour SE of Seattle. I shoot couples and seniors too along with an occasional family/kiddo session.

Awesome! That's amazing, I bet your not stuck for locations around there!

We have lots of amazing options within a few hours drive....mountains, ocean, city, forests...it's a pretty amazing place to live.

Definitely, very envious sometimes! We loved our time up there! The climate is not too different to here in the UK so we could get quite used to that too!

Funny story, my favorite place other than Washington is England!

My neck of the woods :) Moved here 4 months ago!

Oh amazing, such a wonderful area !

Merry Cryptmas !
Excellent post, I liked it, I follow you to read what you publish, you pass by my profile, maybe something that interests you too, keep posting like this :D

Like you said, such an amazing find! Your photos of the entrance reminded me of Brighton Pier, if you've never been you should visit. Seattle seems like one of those cities whose history you underestimate - although I'm one to spend way more time in its coffee shops.

Thank you! I can kind of see what you mean about Brighton Pier, only been there once though! Yes there is so much history in Seattle, it was very obvious in a place like this! Hahaha well if they had a tea shop instead I would be there !

What a fun post!

Hey there! Thanks for your beautiful post. Seattle is one of my favorite cities (and I'm not a city girl) - right up there with London (which I both love and loathe!) My brother used to own a condo near Pikes Place when he still lived in Seattle. My parents loved living up there too.
Anyway, keep up the good work!

Hey! Thank you for your comment! I am the same with London both love and loathe it too! It’s so busy! So great that your brother used to own a condo near pike place, I can imagine it’s a great place to live near ! Maybe someday we will be back one day! Thank you for dropping by :)
