Well said Scott! This whole year I have been using my brother's camera and have been debating about getting my own for Christmas, but recently my phone camera has served me well for what I am doing now. Thank you for your insight.

The other advantage to waiting to upgrade until you need something you can't get with your current gear, is that since you have a specific goal in mind you can get the right gear to help you reach that goal.
