Midnight Stroll in Singapore - (original cinemagraph)

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

Walking in Singapore is a joy as there is so much to see in the way of modern architecture during the day. The one big drawback is that is so darn hot especially when hauling a large camera backpack of 14 kg. Heading out towards the Marina Bay Gardens before midnight allowed me to get some time in shooting some night time panoramas and on my way back to the Mandarin Oriental, the ArtScience museum that sits below MBS beckoned with the full moon above it.

Shooting late at night means that there is virtually no one around this part of town besides a lone couple that I came across who was quarreling while seated in the middle of the sidewalk. I told the guy 'good luck' as his significant other lamented openly. It is much easier to focus as there are fewer distractions (you would think in this day and age when you pull out a tripod and a camera you don't look that 'special' nonetheless, people still love to gawk.

I live in Singapore too! Awesome! If these are your photos make sure to add them to the Steem Marketplace

Looks like an interesting idea - I'll will certainly check out the Steem Marketplace to get more info - thank you @msutyler

Amazing! Love your artistry and viewpoint and the city!

That is awesome!! Saved it, if that is ok. Would like it for my wallpaper, if the resolution was higher.

Sure that's fine to use as a desktop wallpaper - the largest I could produce it would be 1400px wide otherwise, I'd have to start over as the original was 7360px wide (which would take hours and be a massive gif - 500mb or so which most machines might have difficulty rendering.

That looks so cool!

Appreciate the praise, glad your image of the couple on the beach was selected as it was a strong composition and the timing was spot on! Will follow!

That is stunning!

Right on! I'll see what I see about creating another later today.

few reasons i voted are I'm from singapore, love to walk around, like to snap spontaneous, love the initial pic i see but man, I think my network is so slow and it's still load for the animation I'm waiting to see though I was at the Gardens and the Bay quite a lot these 2 weeks.

yes, I think i was check out your post about the events earlier in the week there - the gif is large around 6mb. I made this one 800px instead of the other two I posted which were 600px and about the same mb size. Appreciate the vote! I will do one of my night shots including MBS reflecting in the pond from the garden.

Salute.... then Followed.

It looks like a flower in the night

Certainly does - it's beautiful from every angle including from a above - the exterior is some sort of masonry. While I was there they were grinding away the edges day and night to make it appear smoother. I guess at this time of night they retracted the boom lifts. In fact, it's modeled after a Lotus blossom.

Niiiice

thanks much - working on another - night cremations along the Ganges

Nice contrast in the picture.

Very cool. I am missing home :-)
