Week 3 of my autumn photography. It has been about a year since I've used GiMP for image editing and any design work. I got a little experimental with some of these images. I need to get back into photo editing and graphic design. I'm really out of practice!
I wanted to get out along Lake Erie, but my lower back has been killing me. A motorcycle ride was out of the question and I didn't feel like taking the car. I ended up in a local nature preserve about a 30 minute drive from my house.
When you enter the park you're greeted with a friendly reminder about social distancing and wearing a mask. I came across several people some wearing masks, others not. Considering we're outside, to each his own.
Shades of autumn filled the marshland. It was a lovely day and warm. Perfect for getting out with the camera.
A dog was playing fetch in the water with his owner.
I love this time of year. I'll give it another week or so and the trees will all be bare. This may be the last time I get out for photos. I'd still like to take one trip to Lake Erie though.
The marsh is filled with cattails. I've been to this location several times for Autumn photography and this was the best trip for fall colors. I'll try and get some older picks up one day.
This is the shoreline from the nature preserve. The location was Buckhorn State Park in Grand Island NY. The houses along the shore are absolutely gorgeous.
This was taken with a zoom from across the river. A lot of nice houses. I believe this was on the Canadian side of the Niagara River.
A hawk flew overhead. I really wish this one would have been centered better. Flying birds are hard to capture in the lens. He circled around one last time then landed in a nearby tree.
I liked this image of him landing in a tree. The photo doesn't do him justice. The wing span was massive!
Well, that's the end of my short hike around Buckhorn State Park in Grand Island NY. I only hiked about 30 minutes in, I was worried about my back being out of whack and didn't want to push it. Hope you enjoyed the images. I may try and get out one last time for some fall photos,but I'm not sure. Would love to get out to the lake if it's not too late. It has been cold and rainy and I'm not sure how much longer the leaves will stay on the trees.

Nice shots, especially the hawk. I'd like to take a walk around here, but it's raining again.
I've not upgraded to Groovy Gorilla yet. Ubuntu Studio recommend a re-install this time, so I'd have to prepare for that.
Thanks, it has been raining here constantly also. Some of the back trails were really muddy. I should of took some shots of that. This summer went by way to fast!
Groovy Gorilla all good so far. I just downloaded the latest release so I have no idea how long the release has been out, but it's running great in my old Inspiron 1750.
