WALLS THAT SPEAK

I want to start telling you a little about the Humboldt, this place was a polytechnic found in the center of the city of Maracaibo, this building was abandoned more than 10 years ago, with time various families who were living on the street occupied this building, which do not have the sanitary regulations to accommodate people. Currently, a total of 14 families live in this building, which does not have drinking water, electricity and is in a dangerous area of the city.

Elderly and adult children are housed in this place, confronting every day the difficulties that are present in the country, dealing with the idea of living under these precarious conditions, fences of prostitution, drugs, alcohol, crime that is generated Every day in the center of the city of Maracaibo, these people are afraid, many of them are closed at sunset because it is completely dark, but others also, are part of everything or have all those vices that only have sunk much more.

Two marabinos artists Rony Reyes and Armando Bravo focused on starting a project in the center of the city, the main idea is to intervene the abandoned areas making murals and creating sculptures in those places, using as a pilot project the Humboldt polytechnic, with the logon SILENCE IS ABOUT, WALLS SPEAKING!

>"It ends social silence, and executes this Cultural Action, which germinates and is born, due to the need to expand and promote at an urban scale, Latin American Contemporary Art, multiplying it beyond galleries or museums, and practically contextualizing it. natural, taking into account as a premise: THE CITY-THE PEOPLE-THE ART To take this to the real fact, we decided to take the Casco Central of the city of Maracaibo as a starting point for this pilot project. in a human and aesthetic way through the fine arts as a guide for action: The historic and now abandoned, "Humboldt Polytechnic Building" for such a noble and just project, a space in which, up to now, they live and make life in it , fourteen families that together will be an essential part of the energy that subsequently materialized in their spaces, trying to be the voice of those who can not speak and the sight for those who can not see Still, "Walls that speak" opens a door, which reveals a new vision of contemporary Latin American art. That is immersed deeply in society, and merges with it. Our goal is nothing more than to seek the union of the one with the other and thus be able to weave networks that, in the future let us together know the expansion of our conscience. For this project, diverse artists from different areas joined together, photographers, the entire community completely support this beautiful work, each of the children spent an incredible week, surrounded by people who totally changed their day to day, painted and played without stopping, others organizacione) s were part of this project as it was CODHEZ "Commission of Human Rights of the State of Zulia" and the Papelera Tiene Hambre, which gave full support day after day ..

Later on I will continue telling you about this project, which does not stop despite the obstacles that come with it, since it has motivated a community that can live better and make others happy!
