Evolution of a movement with documentation 10 (Set "Rock On")

Good morning to all!

What can you say about the assertion of the many pioneers in the Bronx that the record and Hollywood were different things?

"Hip Hop lives because of this. (Mouth)

Because of the ability to communicate with spoken word and rhythm.

The rapper is the one who took this to the max.

And that’s what Hollywood did". Kurtis Blow

"I don’t know if people had given him the proper respect. Wasn’t he Hip Hop?

He is also Hip Hop. Don’t believe my word, but the audience’s.

When we talked about rap, Hollywood was the best. He was the best pure rapper. He was the one who opened the door.

That’s why they made a damn rap record.

What’s up? Thanks to Hollywood, they had to make rap records". Russel Simmons

For some, Dj Hollywood from Harlem was Hip Hop’s first rhythmic rapper.

But for others, like disco DJ, Hollywood is not part of hip hop.

The debate about Hollywood is what the essence of Hip Hop is. And for the people of the Bronx, its essence was Breaks.

I’m gonna find out how Grandmaster Flash helped the first hip hop super group.

Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five.

"I decided to make my debut in the park.

I thought: [I’m gonna play the most exciting Pop part].

One stuck to the other. One, two, to the beat. To get them into a frenzy.

Instead of going into a frenzy, they were pushing the ropes trying to figure out what was going on.

I didn’t want fascination, I wanted them to dance.

I cried for days because I thought: [After all this time, why doesn’t it work? ].

I decided to start talking, but I couldn’t speak very well and play.

So I put the microphone on the other side of the table and anyone who could vocalize could be on my team". Grandmaster Flash

"What happened with Flash is he came to our neighborhood, at one of the improvisations he used to do in the park.

He used to put the microphone on and people would say hello, or tell someone that the mother was looking for him. Or something weird.

And you know, Flash didn’t have a good voice to talk to.

It’s not fast or witty.

He mastered technical skills. And with my brother Kid Creole we used to practice at home.

So we were very prepared, even before we did something.

And then he left the microphone and I took it. I started saying my rhymes or whatever. And from then on, we went in.

At first, they were Grandmaster Flash with the other three Mc's.

That was Cowboy and my brother Creole and me. The fourth member was a good friend of ours too who was a B-boy. And that was Scorpio. And then we had the fifth member of another group, it was Rahiem. Those were the Furious Five". Melle Mel

In the next post I will continue with this, thanks for the attention.
