Hey steemers,

I would like to introduce you all to the our very own tradition.

The Ganapati Festival.

Here we people in India, especially the Maharashtrians get together to celebrate the sacred occasion.

This festival is dedicated to the deity of Lord Ganesha, wherein the houses invite the lord in a form of an idol and worship him till the end of the festival (Ananth Chaturdashi).

This was declared as the common man's festival my the very well known Bal Gangadhar Tilak in late 90's with a vision of gathering together the locals with a view of increasing togetherness and warmth among them selves.

The specialities during this time of the year are happier people with new enthusiasm, the sweets especially the lord favourite "modaks", the pandal arrangements made by various groups and institutions and the processions which include the playing "Dhol and Tasha".

People dress with the ethnic dresses custom made for the period and visit each other's residence for the "prasad" and enjoying the decorations made around the idol.

I have posted the arrangements made at my residence in this post for you guys.

Let me know how you find it.

I ll be posting more stuff about the festival so that you people out there would enjoy along with me and the Indians.
