Afternoon all!
I both those who do and don't celebrate Christmas have had a lovely holiday period. I'm not back to work for another week, so decided to pack up the camera and head north to see the beach slugs.
It hasn't been a bad day here in the coast. A little shower at times, other than that largely clear although windy and bloomin' freezing cold.
Like many, I've over indulged over the last week so thought a little walk would do me some good. After the 20 minute drive.
It's a little late in the year to see lots of seal pups but there are still some about. Like dogs, I'm sure you can tell when they're content with their little smiles.

The slightly older ones seem to enjoy a public display of affection with a little spooning!

It was only possible to head about half a mile south from the car park. There are lots of volunteers about this time of year to ensure the pups aren't disturbed. The walk ways are roped off.
It's unfortunate but regardless of how often it's advertised to not disturb the seals, us humans ignore them and cause all kinds of problems. We frequently read of pups dying from heading into the sea after being disturbed. If they're not ready, unfortunately I gather they drown.

I've been here when there are many more, but there was still a good few about. Being high tide and rough probably didn't help.

Proper tough life eh!

As often in this whereabouts the skies were pretty nice too. I love the moodiness of this time of year, although not a fan of the wind, I don't mind the cold. Unfortunately the mixture of the two chilled me to the bone. It didn't help that I managed to head out with two left gloves!

There's an old pillbox from WW2 just to the west of the beach, within the dunes. The area suffers lots of coastal erosion so I'm not sure how far inland this would have been 80 odd years ago. I'm not sure I'd like to have been stationed in the location, battling the elements off the North Sea regardless.

The silver of this bush/tree struck me has I headed back to the car. It was quite a contrast of the other vegetation surrounding it.

I've been home a few hours and still warming up. I batch cooked lots of chilli yesterday so that'll be warming me up later!
Those critters are cute and I hope they are doing okay. The old pillboxes are so tough they will last a long time. Looks like your weather is not too bad. Enjoy.
