I understand China is the largest rice grower in the world. Some is imported here in Uganda.Most of our products are Chinese because it is wat we can afford. In uganda after independence in 1962,the government tried to encourage rice growing but citizens never took it seriosly.

Back them our economy was doing better than Indonesia and Singapore,but about 50 years down the road Indonesia and sigapore seemed to have gained much from the crop than we have.Besides that,farmers never stopped using rudimentary methods of farming.Europeans never encouraged us to pick up farming yet it was the backborne of our economy.

However this seems to be changing as more and more chinesse are investing in Africa and especially agriculture.After the completion of the Standard guage railway which is also being constructed by the chinesse,we expect to export more of our agricultural products abroad.
