It depends where on the earth you are. The further you are to the north pole for example, the shorter the day. I'm in central Europe, it gets dark at approx 4:30pm here, whereas in the northern countries such as Denmark and Sweden, it gets dark around 3:30pm. But if you live close to the equator, your sunrise/sunset times won't differ so much from other days.
