Steemians, this dark image shows where the Colorado River exits the Grand Canyon (on the left) and snakes its way into Lake Mead (on the right). This image was lensed while I was flying back from exploring and filming the Four Corners region, late in the afternoon, officially dusk.
To get this image correctly I had to compensate for the atmospheric low ambient light, which was reduced even further by the dense clouds above the area.
In the distance Garnet Mountain rises above the horizon while the White Mountains are on the right. This is all part of the Mojave Desert. The Mojave Desert is bordered by the Great Basin Desert to its north and the Sonoran Desert to its south and east.
The Mojave Desert is often referred to as the "high desert", in contrast to the "low desert" which is the Sonoran Desert to the south. This is the traditional homelands of the First Nations Mojave Nation. The spelling Mojave originates from the Spanish language although the word is a shortened form of Hamakhaave, their endonym in their native language, which means 'beside the water'.

This is another image from my ongoing project in which I am trying to raise awareness of the 47% of the USA and 90% of Canada that remain unpopulated wilderness.
Where Eagles Fly - The American Wilderness Expedition is my personal mission to introduce people to these amazing locations that surround us.

Very interesting photography at night
Lovely Photo ,nice post @skypilot
Beautiful shot! What are you shooting with?
Eli thanks so much, glad you like it. This was captured with a Hasselblad H5D-60mpx back using an 80mm prime lens with ND and Polarizing filters.
Super cool! Do you find shooting with medium format changes how you go about shooting compared to DSLRs?
No not really, the process I have developed for shooting from a moving airplane while piloting said moving airplane pretty much remains the same regardless of the rig. I only moved to the larger format for 2 reasons, wider spread of the color range via a richer bayer layer (the filter mosaic used as a color filter array (CFA) for arranging RGB color filters on a square grid of photosensors) the Hasselblad has. Plus the larger size print reproductions I can achieve when using the 60mpx back.
I love the moodiness of this photo. The darker colours make this photo stunning.
Thanks, I do like the dark mood this picture emotes!
