A month ago, we went to visit my husband who is doing a project in Hanoi. We stayed at the Renaissance in Hanoi & he booked a tour and paid USD680 for a cruise in Ha Long Bay. We travelled 3 hours in a car at 60 km/h average speed from our hotel to Ha Long Bay. This package included a private boat cruise & some kayaking or bamboo boating, trip to a cave and trip to a beach. It also included lunch on board the cruise. And the 3 hours journey back to Renaissance hotel in Hanoi.
This is our cruise boat:
This is where Ha Long Bay is located. If you ever decided to visit Vietnam, this is a place that you must not missed although I, personally will not want to go there again.
There's 1243 google reviews at the time of writing. Mostly great reviews and if you are interested, there are many beautiful pictures there:
Here's some of the pictures that we took:
This is the kissing hens (maybe a cock kissing a hen):
Here's a dog: Looking kinda cute
Here's another breathtaking picture: (They put this is on their 200 000 Dong note)
Here's my daughter onboard the cruise (upstairs):
Downstairs:
Here's our other tourist friends on their bamboo boat although I really don't know why it is call a bamboo boat coz nothing on the boat was made of bamboo. I took this picture from our bamboo boat. We had a choice of whether to kayak our own or to ride on this boat. Kayaking was too daunting a task here with so many boats around, we might capzise and the water seemed really polluted, so we decided on the bamboo boat.
And here's the cave. Going into the cave was a nightmare. There were like hundreds of people and everyone was pushing their way inside and the path to the cave was jammed pack with human beings. We were bombarded with body odour, bad breadth and loud noises. Half way through, we wanted to turn back, but there was no turning back, finally after half an hour, we made our way into the cave. It was not too bad but I would never ever do this again!
We skipped one part of the tour i.e. the visit to the beach. We had a look from far and we found that the beach was crowded so we skipped that and headed back. We had a meal onboard too but it was below our expectation so, I guess, I didn't even take a picture. It would have been better if we ordered it right there instead of preorder.
All in all, it was good but it could have been better. So many people went there and had a great time and made great reviews. Maybe, we are just too fussy.
Finally , we got back to our hotel almost in time for bed, my daughter jumping for joy...

Great. Looking forward to seeing your photos here at steemit.. You've been to Malaysia? How was it? I hope Najib Razak didn't steal anything from you. He stole 2 billion ringgit from the people. Nastyyyyy!!!
That was a stunning scenery! I love those two rocks standing like a prince in the midst of the water. Vietnam has its own spectacular scenery to be proud of and must-see tourist spots.
I will be taking Bamboo boat (!) when i go down there . Nice photography , How was the weather ? Thanks for posting
Hi... Bamboo boat?! Why? I seriously think kayaking would be more fun but we were just scared & unadventurous.
Whats the fun without some adrenaline?
USD680 for a cruise trip?! That's too much, considering your whole Ha Long Bay experience. And too bad it's too crowded! It must be peak season during the time you went there.
Yes, totally agree with you that USD680 was a rip off.
Very nice pictures, it is really strange rock formations.
we should more concern about this problem.
Wow, great photography.Excellent capture.

Hermosas fotos, @simply-me, se nota que es una zona bastante tranquila, y lo mejor es la belleza que trasmite la naturaleza ya que en una zona como esta se respira aire fresco y puro, no contaminado por el ambiente, gracias por compartir.
That was a staggering view! I cherish those two rocks standing like a ruler amidst the water. Vietnam has its own particular astounding landscape to be pleased with and must-see traveler spots.

Hi. Iam alredy reestem your post
Hi @joerijal, you are too kind. thank you so much. Trimakasih. I upvoted your reply.
it looks like the shrimp boat that comes out in the movie that made ton hans
lol
Personally I loved haolong bay, but I think when you go is really important, if it is during busy season then it is indeed too crowded. The views are spectacular nonetheless!
Hi there, agree with you. Will keep that in mind for future trips
The photographs of the rocks are amazing. I love how nature can create natural sculptures. I'm sorry that parts of your trip were not enjoyable.
thank you for taking the time to read. best wishes
That is disappointing about your experience being so crowded and busy. My wife and I visited there in 2012, staying on the cruise boat for two nights and it was absolutely amazing. Almost no people and the water seemed fine, especially when we kayaked into and around the rock islands. Maybe it has changed in the past 6 years, becoming more commercial. I hope not as I would love to go back there!
Vietnam has really changed in the past 2 years. They are developing very fast now. And there are hundreds of cruise boats.
That's sad, I recall Na Trang had about 7 resort style buildings mid construction when we went, so sounds like all of Vietnam is being comercialised for tourism.
Wow @simply-me I would also not be to happy having paid $680 for that trip. A friend and I booked an over night trip from out hotel. It was $100 including all meals. I really enjoyed the trip but felt the downside is it is very over crowded in Halong Bay.
Verry nice post big thumbs up and a resteem from my side for hard work and dedication
Thank you
Muy bello, me encantaría un paseo allí con mi esposa, gracias por compartir.
Beautiful Vietnam...On my bucketlist

@simply-me, one word comments are useless. Please, put in a little effort to help make Steemit better!
Hi, this is really interesting. What did you program to notice my one word reply? I checked your profile & you made 1 miserable blog and you have many upvotes worth $30.06 at the point of writing this. You also sent out the same comment to almost everybody & someone upvoted everyone of those reply. How exactly did you do that? Amazing. Anyway, I really just wanted to say thanks and nothing more, hence the one word reply. I think saying "thanks" is better than not saying anything. I was really appreciative but I did not have anything else to say, just thanks. & I think you are not in a position to judge whether my comment is useless or not.. OR ARE YOU????!!!
It is wonderful ~ Ha Long Bay is a place that I want to visiting. (▰˘◡˘▰)
