Some interesting facts about Damselflies

  • These are similar to Dragonflies but are smaller in size and also slimmer in shape.
  • These are predatory.
  • These are generally freshwater habitats.
  • Damselflies generally fold their wings along their body when at rest.
  • Apart from fresh water body, these are also found in grasses and low vegetation.
  • Generally the male damselflies are bright blue with black markings where as female damselflies are green or brown with black markings. Therefore the above image of damselfly which I have shot is a female damselfly.

These flies could be found in abundance near lakes, canals etc which is their natural habitat. Focus on the eyes in these photographs is awesome.
