The Lennon Wall

Hey guys, this will be my first post. I visited Prague 2 weeks ago and decided to tell you the story of the Lennon Wall.
All pictures were taken by me.

This wall which is in Prague, was an ordinary wall once upon a time until 1980s.IMG_5573.JPG
Although it had never been visited by Lennon, it's filled with some words and murals inspired by John Lennon to spread his words and thoughts.

It was a source of irritation for communist regime in Czechia. Young Czechs would write grievances on the wall and in a report of the time this led to a clash between hundreds of students and security police. This movement followed by students was described "Lennonism", ironically.

The wall is owned by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, which allowed the graffiti to continue on the wall, and is located at Velkopřevorské náměstí.

When we look at recent history of the wall, on 17 November 2014, the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, the wall was painted over in pure white by a group of art students, leaving only the text "wall is over.

The Knights of Malta initially filed a criminal complaint for vandalism against the students, which they later retracted after gaining contact with them.

But now the graphities are still there and the "Wall is over" is changed to "War is over"
