It is another small day of surf here in Lobitos, Peru..... so I say we get on the yaks and head out to the platforms. I definitely need some exercise. Lets go. Vamanos...
The mornings here in Lobitos always seem to start off mellow and relaxing. By that I mean that the winds are light and the ocean is calm. However...do not be fooled. By ten in the morning the winds will start to pick up, and the ocean wakes up as well. So lets be quick and get out to the platforms while its still early.
Blue whales will often migrate thru this area we are traversing on the kayaks. However today there are none. When they are migrating it is definitely a magnificent view to see. Lets go see if there are any sea lions hanging out on the platform today. Sometimes they are there chilling and sometimes they are out fishing.
Ok. We are getting close now after about a twenty minute paddle. The ocean is calm and everything is great. We are in really deep water here seeing as how the coastline drops off at a drastic rate. It is quite exhilarating to be out here.
It looks like the sea lions are out fishing. Most of the oil rigs here are no longer in service...instead they act as housing communities for the local fishery. There are some in use but many are not. They are great structures to fish off as well.
Speaking about fishing I am starting to think about lunch. I am thinking ceviche. You all have a great day and enjoy.
