Sam's Travels - National Orchid Garden, Singapore - Photography

I am currently in Singapore at the moment en route to the UK and I visited the National Orchid Garden. They have an amazing collection of beautiful orchids. Here are some of my photos of them.

The National Orchid Garden is within the Singapore Botanical Gardens. This is me and my girlfriend about to go inside the gardens.

Singapore's climate being on the equator is warm and wet and therefore perfect growing conditions for orchids.

Many of these orchids are available as house plants.

Oncidium orchids

Dendrobium orchids

Phaleanopsis orchids

Orchids belong to the Orchidaceae family and is one of the largest plant families on the planet.

Orchid flowers consist of three sepals and three petals one of which becomes a modified lip.

The name orchid comes from the ancient greek word meaning testicle because of the shape of the tubers in the genus Orchis.

I hope you enjoyed my photos :)
