Portrait Photography: Strangers into Friends

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Another series that I’d like to introduce into my blog are portraits. This year, I got to meet a handful of people through the community on Instagram. Keep in mind, I’ve never met these people in real life until now.

From online to offline

Just like all other social platforms, I was able to meet people who were like-minded and shared similar interests through the Instagram world. These are people who I’ve been following or discovered through mutual networks. I can randomly choose people who to meet, but I’ve been selective before I engage with someone through a direct message or even a comment. Yes, that means going through their IG feed, personal website/blog and maybe a Google search to learn more. Being selective helps because you’ll know how to connect and develop great chemistry with the person you’re meeting. (If it works out well!) And from there, a meetup is planned and the rest is history.

And who do I choose exactly?

As of right now, I’m looking for people who have a passion in something. Be it dance, fashion, modeling, photography, travel, gaming, designing, and whatever they are into. If someone is living a certain lifestyle or doing what they love for a living that is something that I’m generally interested in. It inspires me to learn from these people because it only pushes me to keep pursuing my passion and interests. And it definitely helps to write and share my stories on here.

What to expect from these?

I guess you guys know where I am getting at right? People who have creative careers. The people who are pursuing their passion or living their dream. Lifestyles that most people are afraid to pursue. The ones who career surfed. The people who work in jobs unrelated to their educational background. By surrounding myself with passionate and like-minded individuals, I learned that you can create the life you want to live.

Lastly, great portrait photography comes best with storytelling. I want to share my thoughts and why I decided to meet these people. And I definitely want to shed light on who these people are and hopefully they inspire you just like they inspire me.

Be sure to follow my blog to see the individuals that I met up with and also a series of my travel photos. Learn a little more about me through my first blog on Steemit. Cheers!
