Aceh is one of the tropics that has a suitable habitat for various species of butterflies. Butterflies belong to one of the Insekta classes, in the order Lepidoptera, subordo Rhopalocera whose existence is quite abundant. One of the families of the suborder of Rhophalocera is Nymphalidae.
The Nymphalidae butterfly is characterized by a brush-legged, beautiful and attractive wing color, diverse body size, incomplete front legs, front wings do not widen, angle, uneven rim, and antenna length half the wingspan.
Like butterflies in general, the Nymphalidae family undergoes a life cycle. The life cycle of the Nymphalidae family begins with eggs, larvae, pupae.
Pupa family Nymphalidae has a distinctive shape like a kite and has an additional tool at the end of the abdomen (cremaster).

Butterfly Nymphalidae in ecosystem circle has a special role. Some of the role of this butterfly is as a provider of food for other living things, as pollinators in pollination, and can be used as an environmental bioindicator.
Each species of butterfly has a specific morphology in the pupa phase. Pupa phase can be regarded as a critical phase on the butterfly. That's because of the formation of organs from butterflies. Furthermore, pupa-pupa will be either male or female butterfly.
The sex of the butterfly can be estimated by comparing the weight of the pupa. The female butterfly has a larger abdomen than the male butterfly because it has to carry the egg, so we can estimate the female weighs heavier than the male butterfly.
This can be the basis for determining the sex of the butterfly in accordance with the weight of the pupil.
