mendacity and conniving
the hunger of hidden
serpents
we all climb in
it's warm inside
our scaled existence
outside enemies
can't get you
lay back; consume
get slowly digested
let me rule you
I'll keep you safe
plump, opiated
medicated
promise
our keepers
border drawers
lack divvy-uppers
cataract'd vipers
blind brahminy
shhh
glucose, liquor
insulin and statins
sweet Mary Jane

The Snake and the Rhinoceros
The snake begrudged the rhino's ability to shake the ground by merely placing one foot after another; he hated her for the path she flattened, no matter how easy she made it for others who came later to pass. His own path lay insignificant, barely noticed in comparison to the wide way of the rhino.
The snake would bide his time. All that was mortal took a mis-step from time to time. The rhino was no different. The snake would wait for her to stumble and then he'd strike. The moment soon came. Alas for the snake, even when the rhino lost her footing, she shook the ground. Even when she stumbled, she flattened the path.

He falls to fear
One most afraid falls to greed
A hunger for power
In an attempt to feel safe
In an attempt to cheat death
Consumed by what he desires
He throws boys to anger
Girls to lust
Treads upon brothers as slaves
Crushes allies as enemies
Lift the most afraid to the Tao
We will have no one to fear
