Thanks Sally, interestingly, when I got my legal Chinese name, I really chose it. So legally, it is my name in Taiwan, but pronounced Mao (cat) Wang Zi (prince).
Can you explain a little. more for me to understand. You are from Taiwan but in China you get to choose your name? I am interested to understand , sorry I don't fully understand your explanation - but it's a great name... let me know if you can.
I am from the US living abroad. Here, when doing ID's they want a Chinese name. Typically they sound out your real name and just put that on the ID. However, I asked if I don't like my name, can I choose one. They said yes. I chose it for a few reasons. One, I like Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet and two, Elvis is actually called The Cat King here or "King of Cats". Bruce Lee's name is Little Dragon Lee. Not everybody gets cool names. Often celebrities just get the sounds sounded out in the closest words that make sense. I do music too under Prince of Cats.
thanks yes I agree haha
