Since 1970, every April 22nd, mankind celebrates Earth Day. The one who keeps us, nourishes us, offers us shelter, enchants us with his miracles, protects us, reveals us step by step from his mysteries, and especially supports us ... Earth Day, the 2010 edition, passed unimportantly, undecided, on a Saturday, about a month ago. There remains a planet that, as observed by the naked eye, needs urgent 365 days of serious protection, including Saturday and Sunday. Otherwise, the misery and greed of our species will be hardly paid by our own children, future generations of sacrifice and experiments, which will probably be hit by the real crises, besides which the economic one, at present, will seem simple and harmless play with figures. Until then, the Earth is moving, rotating by measuring our time, leaking images, which will urge many to meditate on the miracle called Terra.
This is the most detailed image of our planet, seen from space, made to date. It was obtained through MODIS, the initials for NASA's Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer, a state-of-the-art device that managed to capture the Blue Planet at an altitude of 700 km.
