Hi Guys!
If You are interested and didn't read the first post from this exploration - check it out HERE
At the very end of this day's hike I stopped for a moment to eat something and when I was standing on the hill I spotted a strange white mushroom on the rotten tree trunk...
Because I am interesting in mushrooms I went to check it out and I was really suprised with this discovery - I never seen this species in nature so I decided to switch my lens to macro setup and take some close up shots to get the best view on the details of this species which are amazing!
My setup for this macro shots was my zoom tele lens 70-300mm and macro ring 18mm which gave me good magnification. I places my camera on a tripod to avoid any shaking and get the best sharpness.
Here are the shots I managed to capture:
And about this species - it is called a Coral tooth fungus or Comb coral mushroom (Hericium coralloides) and it is saprotrophic fungus which can be found on dead wood of deciduous trees, in this case it was an old trunk of beech tree.
It is an edible mushroom in a young form with many health properties (Among others it can be used as a support in the treatment of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease).
It also contains polysaccharides (including beta-glucan),fatty acids, amino acids, minerals (including potassium, phosphorus, zinc, selenium, iron), vitamin D3.
In Poland however it cannot be picked up from nature because it is extremely endangered species.
It is listed in a "Red list of endangered species of plants and mushrooms" as a species which is endangered with extinction.
It is worth to protect it in natural location as it is rare, very valuable and of course very beautiful.
Of course I didn't picked it up - I was really amazed by this find, by this uniqe look of it and I fully respect the fact it is so rare.
This was a nice end of the day for me. First - amazing hike with such a wonderful place, many good shots, many hours outdoor enjoying the nature... and in final such a nice and interesting find.
Because this day was so succesful I decided to stay here for one more day and explore the rest of the location but this time going up the river from the place I started this one and check out the other half of Jar Reknicy Nature Reserve.
I hope You will stay tuned for another day because the conditions were slightly different and the compositions I found were even more interesting.
Thank You all for the support and until the next one!
