Hi there my Steemit friends and followers!
Through my entry for today´s #streetphotography contest hosted by @juliank, I would like to show you a very impressive place found in the historic center of the German city of Dresden, the renowned Theater Square.
Despite the name of the square, however, the magnificent building you see in the photo is not a theater but the famous Dresden Opera House (known as Semperoper in German). Built in 1841, this architectural jewel is home to the Saxon orchestra and ballet. Just like most other buildings in the city, the Opera House was badly damaged during the infamous WW II bombing but it was reconstructed after the war and it looks almost identical to the original building.
The statue on the right represents John of Saxony, a Saxon king and a member of the House of Wettin who ruled Saxony from 1854 to 1873. The king was born in Dresden in 1801 and died there in 1873.
When I was visiting Dresden back then (a few years ago), I had a really bad (cell phone) camera and the weather was not good either so it took some serious editing to make the photo publishable but hopefully, you get at least some idea of how beautiful the place is in reality.
If you enjoy my content, feel free to upvote and resteem :) I don’t always follow back but I upvote original and interesting comments on my posts. Have a wonderful day and Steem on!
Hah looks more than publishable for sure...You shouldn't give out your tricks for free haha :D Tell 'em u've taken the pic with some heavy mirror camera with 5kg half meter long lens :D
Kdybys viděl, čím jsem tohle tehdy fotil, tak by ses smál na celý Innsbruck :D Ale photo editory jsou mocné čarodějky :))
Very neat I would love to visit one day. I love how the photograph has an eerie look to it with the color combination. Does it really look so brown or did you photoshop it a lot?
Thank you :) Actually, I had to put it through some editing as the camera was terrible and the lighting too :D
I think it captures the moment perfectly. It makes me feel I was there too!
Nice capture. I went to Dresden last year and was surprised by how beautiful it was considering it was flattened during the war. It was a very photogenic place!
Cool! I am sure you enjoyed your trip to this beautiful German city :)
