I think it depends on whether you already linked your Byteball wallet with your Steemit account (through the Steem attestation bot in the wallet) or not. If not, you should be able to install the wallet on your computer and claim the free Bytes. They just changed the conditions of the airdrop a bit - you don´t need other people to send you the funds anymore but there are some new steps required.
