This is the biggest Pygmy Rattlesnake I've seen so far!
Honestly, I never interacted with any venomous snakes until I moved to Arkansas about a year and half ago. I've been interacting with snakes all my life, just not any that were actually dangerous. Last year, we found three Pygmy Rattlesnakes, and I figured that we would see some more this year.
Though it only has seven rattles, it is the biggest one that I have ever seen down here. I'm preparing to do a video post about it in my The Wild-Man's Wild Friends Series, but I thought that I would take some quick photos to share, because we just got this one. It will be relocated soon, as I don't really need them around here with all the @little-peppers and animals running around. Enjoy the photos!
As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Until next time…
Don’t waste your time online, invest it with steemit.com
I don't think I want to meet up with this guy.
They are not so bad, as long as they don't bite.
And mountain lions aren't so bad, until they MAUL YOU
Right, see, you get it!
WAS WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT! Great Post as always!
Oh no!
Your snake posts are the best!
Thanks @future24. I never did finish those pushups...
I stopped after 2 weeks too with the videos... :)
YOU PICKED HIM UP?! CRIKEY
It is safer if you are in control of it.
IT'S SAFER NOT TO GO ANYWHERE NEAR THAT SNEK
When it is where children play, I would rather move it away.
But much safer if we stay away from them, and they stay away from us.
That sounds like a good deal.
Congratulations @papa-pepper!
Your post was mentioned in my hit parade in the following category:
I guess you know what you're doing. One slip and it's curtains.
Windows are always better with curtains.
wow. it was dangerous. i love wild too :)

Cool, I'll check it out.
oh my God, ground rattler they spend most of their time well-hidden among leaf litter and can be very hard to spot
Yeah, they have some good camouflage.
the chances of being bitten by a venomous snake are low, and the chances that getting a bite from a venomous snake will be fatal are even lower you are more likely can die from a dog bite than a snake.
Steamy!
A lot of snakes out here too, we have to walk around the land here with a shovel, just in Case.
There are a lot of them!
@papa-pepper
have you ever been bitten by a venomous snake? If so what do you do?
Not yet, though I may have had venom drip into an open wound.
Wow! Good job:) My wife don't afraid of them also:)
I love the snake! it's cute!! :) Love your posts!! :) Have a great day! :)
Thank you. It is kind of cute.
How close are you to that thing man? Wild!
Close...
Come on level with me papa. Where did you learn the photoshop skills? You know I'm just kidding! That is one beautiful rattlesnake and you still amaze me with how close you get to these poisonous snakes.
Are you in chat, I had something that I wanted to ask you about.
I am now
Snakes are creepy little buggers. I find them fascinating but if one of them decided to start slithering towards me I'd almost certainly have a little freak out.
Let's just keep them on my post for now then.
Wow that's amazing!
Wicked looking creature- papa-pepper you sir have balls of steel! That's coming from a guy that likes snakes but not so much the venomous variety.
They sure do look amazing!
The snakes or your.......? LMAO
Oh and by the way thanks for helping my man Richq11- very nice of you!
Gee-wiz those photos are taken very close or that new toy has amazing zoom functions it is truly a beautiful snake but hey papa-pepper if i ever see one i will call you :-)
A little of both, new steem-powered camera and getting close.
Safe so far!
That's not a pygmy rattlesnake...
that's a pygmy-eating rattlesnake !
XP
But my god does it look majestic.
You (or your kids) collect snake skins you find, by any chance ?
The biologist in me is wondering if one can classify a snake by it's old skin, or if that doesn't give enough details...
We round them up sometimes and sort out who we want to keep around and who we should help move.
wow. what a mean beauty
Wow,@papa-pepper,very brave to caught a poisonous snake
If we understand venomous snakes, the risk is reduced. I'm not recommending that anyone else try though!
Yes friends, I think you are very brave
My god, snake looked big until I saw you and it together.
How can I overcome snake fear???
He looks pissed!
They always seem to.
Oh, My GOD. You're a GIANT..........................lol!
oh my god, It is very dangerous@ papa-pepper
ooo its awsome
wow
Only at a reasonable distance from it! It gives me the creeps!!!!
Nice post!

Glad you like it. I'll make a video soon!
Sounds good I'll be looking for it l!

Carewhat?
We've been hearing a lot about draining the swamp. You have a plan looks like just to relocate it. Nice post as always!
What a beautiful creature......In a " found this in nature" sorta way. I'm not huge fan of snakes but, I respect them and find their designs to be magnificent. I use to catch garter snakes and a kid.
are you sceared from that snake
No, you?
I happened across a mating pair of those while turning soil in my compost pile once. Talk about doing a backwards safety dance back to my house, AND fast.
Very cool, great pictures. :D
Awwww, he's beautiful! He looks so much different than the kinds of rattlesnakes we get out here in Arizona. Nice photos, thanks fr sharing!
Its so natural pic

I love your proof photos. We carry handguns because we seen enough rattlers and copperheads around here during the summer. They make 9mm snakeshot. Your guineas will kill them if they find them then leave them to rot in the sun. They are cool birds that keep the ticks at bay but they can be vicious!
The proof photos are kind of a running joke on many levels but they show the originality of my work. Can you kill snakes up there? It is illegal here.
I was going to do a video on how to skin and eat a snake, but I can't kill one in Arkansas.
I have never killed a snake on video. By the time the camera starts rolling, the head has always somehow managed to disappear. It's weird. :)
