I got to take my turn at trying!
Yesterday I shared about how we got some really good photos of some armadillos by me holding them still and our seven year daughter taking some pictures with my new camera. Pinkie-Pepper did a great job and we had some excellent results from her effort.
Still, as good as her photos may have been, I still wanted to try to take some myself, and be able to get my own angle on these incredible creatures. I just wasn't sure how to pull it off, without holding them still. Then, I remembered an abandoned bridge nearby, so I took the armadillos with me, since I wanted to relocate them away from our property anyway. I figured that it just might give me the opportunity I needed, and I think it worked great.
ARMADILLOS ON THE BRIDGE PHOTO SHOOT
While I didn't risk trying to photograph the pair together, I did get some great solo shots. Armadillos are such a peculiar creature anyway, but up close they look even stranger. Here are some of my favorites. See what you think.
As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:
proof-of-armadillo (by my hat)
Until next time…

I love the little guys, hence the name of the homestead haha! When my wife and i first camped at the property were living at now the first animal sighting we had was a poor dead armadillo face down in our creek. We named him Phil, said a few words, and gave him a proper burial complete with rock carin and gravemark. From that moment on, we were armadillo creek. :)
Wow! What a username!
Took a sec to find the Photo, RIP Phil!
What a strange looking creature they are! Awesome shots of them :) Can you touch them? What do they feel like?
You can touch them, but they can carry leprosy... so not everyone does. They remind me of snapping turtles, just without the snap.
Eeek...scary :)
Oh, leprosy is not a nice disease, so I get why some people prefer not to touch them. I suppose it's best to put on gloves at least.
Leprosy not being nice could be a little bit of an understatement lol. Thanks for the info though as I would have been dumb enough to try an pet one if I ever see one.
Haha, that's true! Well, they do seem very petable, so I get why you would do that ;)
Became intrigued with those large lovely lizards when I first saw one in The Clash Video - Rock the Casbah. Thanks for the flashback @papa-peeper!
I forgot about that!
Your right they are a very peculiar creature and up close they look strange because they have like a scaled texture and a deer shaped face!!
Very interesting, aren't they?
Armadillo's are bizarrely cute!
Yes they are!
Loved your post :)
Glad to hear it, thank you!
Hey man, these are some really great pictures! My hats off to Pinky-pepper, I think she might have a future in photography. Beautiful creature as well.
Yeah, she did a nice job with the first round. Thanks man!
excellent photos, in my country they call it cachicamo.
Cool, thank you for checking it out.
I'm guessing you took these with your new camera? I liked this one the best. It's an awesome perspective right down there on the armadillo's level.
My favorite as well.
It is a nice perspective! Also, it looks like it is in its "natural environment"... the road!
Only most of the time when you see them on the road they are a little less lively. LOL
Yesterday I said that I would love to see more photos of this little guys. And today you surprise with more photos of them...I love it!
Keep being great, man!
LOL! What are the odds of that! Hopefully tomorrow you will want to see an Opossum.
Nice pictures @papa-pepper. But they look scary!
They do, a bit...
Ok you win... great photos! They look so prehistoric!
Yay! I'm a winner! Thanks @otage!
Crazy lookin' things. Such a hold over from the dinos or something from the very distant past anyway. I love it when they roll up into a ball.
These ones mostly wanted to run, but I've seen them ball up before.
Armadillos are amazing @papa-pepper
They sure are!
As always, you're papa pepper and those shots are awesome! Love the detail of the heads.
Me too. So strange to look at them so close.
Wow!
These are truly weird little animals!
I wanna touch one, lol!
Very nice shots!
You obviously missed the part about them potentially carrying leprosy. ;)
Whatever... LOL!
Leprosy, shmeprosy!
It'd be worth it.
;)
Only cost you and arm and a leg, right?
What's an arm and a leg when you could hug that lizardy weirdness!!?
And kiss it on its little weird snout?
I suppose you have 2 arms so could hug it with the one that remains.
Absolutely!! It would be bliss...
Really, really weird indeed!
Wow @papa-pepper. So creatures like this exist around you?.. They look strange but beautiful together. You got nice shots too.
Yeah, there are quite a few around here. They came out the other day because it warmed up.
It really warmed up good! Went through the pictures you took again... such good focus! If you don't mind sir. What camera do you use?
Just bought a Canon Rebel T6.
Great sir...great camera. The picture quality speaks for itself.
I was able to use my savings to get one too. A Nikon D5100.
Do you have a picture of them shaped like a ball? :)
That would be awesome
They did not do this, although I had seen it in the past. Maybe next time.
Wow! I've never seen a armadillos so detailed. They were so perfectly created by nature that they seem to be aliens from another planet.
They are very, very interesting to look at. All the hair underneath too.
Yes, I noticed the hair on my stomach. Like hedgehogs.
Uniquely gorgeous creatures! Thanks so much for sharing them with us!
I like the way that you put that! Thanks!
What crazy little creatures! Like something out of a fantasy novel!
Yeah, very interesting and bizarre!
Thanks @papa-pepper! Pictures look awesome! What kind of camera do you own?
I think armadillos are amazing creatures and they taste pretty good!
I think a Canon Rebel T6.
I find them super cute.. first time really looking at one this close! They seem to be docile, are they?
They are docile.
incredible creatures @papa-pepper! i wish i could see one of those and actually touch it due.
Maybe one day! Who knows?
yeah
Those are so rad! I had no idea their heads had those markings. You had excellent sunlight on them too. I need to show my kids!!!
The shoot worked out well. I am glad that you enjoyed the photos!
It is a beautiful creature...
That they are. Really interesting.
Wow. Such a really cure creature. Can I pet one? ☺️ The photos are pretty cool too.
Regards,
Jhez
You could pet one... but you might get leprosy...
Love to see it.
Glad that you liked them!
When I was in the Air Force in the 60's stationed in Texas me and a friend where out hiking and we ran across some armadillo's. We tried to get close to them. I did not realize how fast they could run and hide. I don't know how hard there shell is. Is it as hard as a turtle?
I have enjoyed both of your posts ,
Being in Australia we don't get them .
had no idea that they can carry leprosy.
such an informative post loved it.
Thank you for posting this
Thanks! I am glad that you not only enjoyed them, but also that you learned something!
i have learnt alot from your posts I even enjoy reading the meat one's and I am vegetarian.
Um... wow. :) Love the photos (#10 of the Bridge photo shoot is my favorite).
Thanks, I like that one too!
The pictures makes it seem as if m seeing one for real. Nice works with the photography there @papa-pepper(77)
Cool! I like the way that you said that! Thanks!
Man. Second armadillo post from the homestead community I see in 2 days. These guys seem to like to be on the blockchain.
Was it a @freedompoint post? Or was there another?
Yes it was. I will keep my eyes up for more ;) Wanna collect?
aliens :)
Must have crashed landed.
Haha ,thats why they have a shell 😀
They remind me of a possum with a hard shell. We see a few here in Missouri at times, but unfortunately splattered often times on the highway.
Just caught an opossum too! Interesting!
Very strange animals I have not seen in my life
Very valuable information my friend you are a really wonderful person
I never saw one in the wild until I moved to New Orleans back in 2004.
Oh my land, those are so cute. I've never seen an armadillo up close. Is it my eyes or is one more pinkish than the other, maybe that was the female...? :D
Their feet made me think of chicken feet but with a longer center claw, maybe I'm losing it though. :D Great pictures, I love the one with your son and what looks like a bucket...is that what you brought them to the bridge in? They really are neat to see so close up. Thanks for sharing. :D
God bless you and the whole Pepper family. :D Have an awesome day! :D
I like that one too! It is a garbage can, and yes, that is what we brought them in.
Is it just the camera angle or is that one finger/claw much longer than the others?
Wow!

Sir Lancelot in armour. Just kidding. Armadillo
Great animal pics!
Thank you for the pictures! Never seen armadillos so close! It's a miracle!
Those are such cute little dogs!
Buenas fotos en el lugar donde vivo se conocen como cachicamo.
Nice Pics UPVOTE, check this out :) https://steemit.com/berlin/@dalexx/berlin-architecture
these little dudes are so cute hahahaha
Great close up shots of the armadillo! It didn't seem very camera shy at all! :)
It's amazing how they are protected with the shell they got & haha for the proof with cap.
