One of the greatest components of the monsoon in New Mexico was the lightning. The first time I visited Farmington, New Mexico in September of '92, there was lightning 10 of the 14 days spent there! It is not to be missed if you have a choice of when to visit. Farmington is high desert near the Four Corners.
