I think the frost overnight has destroyed most of the mushrooms, as I only saw a single one during a long walk in the forest yesterday. It was a big one though, about 12cm (5") across, with a purplish hue under the light, but brown when shaded:

Just seeing the one makes it extra frustrating that I haven't been able to identify it. I did take another picture of the underside with a small mirror, maybe it will help someone else determine what species it is:
Olympus Stylus 1s, 42mm, ISO400, f4, 1/8s
Note to self: always bring GF, GF carries little mirror.
amazing mushrooms
That's a big one. Wonder what kind it is :)
So do I ...
Have you looked at the MMI?
Yes, but no luck.
Fiddlesticks. Maybe this book has it for you? (Thanks to @haphazard-hstead)
That's an impressive mushroom! I like seeing underneath the cap. Were the gills free from the stalk or did they run down the stalk? So many questions - even though I don't know what it could be, lol.
Nice photo! I am sad to hear that the mushroom season is coming to an end in the place you live. Here it has been over for a few months already :(
Anyway, I cannot help you with the identification from these pictures alone. Do you have more pictures of the mushroom, specifically the stem?
No, the camera wouldn't fit under it 8-). Very short stem, 3cm tops, about 2 cm across, no annulus, yellowish white.
The weather changed, and they're back!
