While visiting my sister-in-law who was stationed on Coronado island in San Diego, CA we decided to go down to the local beach. Apparently is is a highly ranked beach for a variety of reasons. One interesting thing about this beach is that it reflects gold because of a high concentration of mica in the sand. When you first see it, you think that some gold deposit has washed up on shore. No such luck!
We took our dogs Kona, who sadly passed away recently at a ripe old age, and Harvey the Cocker Spaniel with us on the trip.
Kona in her usual way spent most of the time lying around. She was born with a hip problem with made it tough for her to get around very well, but she certainly enjoyed life. She would take any opportunity to get a nice roll in the grass, sand or even mud!
Meanwhile, Harvey was going nuts running up and down the beach. This little guy goes 100 miles an hour until he's finally tired, and then all at once he goes to sleep on a dime. I kind of envy him!
Above, you can see me trying to get him to play but he's only interested in running around maniacally. Oh well! I just let him have his fun. Luckily there is a fence which separates the civilian area from the military base, so he couldn't get too far away.
It feels odd looking at these photos to me, since my hair has now grown halfway down my back.
Eventually we decided to take a stroll down the beach. It was a lovely day. A bit crisp, but comfortable. Amanda's sister took these shots of us walking along the water's edge.
One nice thing about these beaches is that they are virtually empty. For some reason, there really just aren't a lot of people hanging out on them and there is a lot of open beach. Well, finally the sun had began to set so we decided to head back to the house. All good things must come to an end!
awww soooo cute
RIP to Kona and Live it up @Harvey! It's lovely to have fun regularly in life because, its impression in our mind last for a life time. Nice post!
