'Mela' is actually a Sanskrit word meaning 'fair' .
But for children , it means joy. When their local place becomes pretty much an amusement park , where they can find all kinds of toys they want & all kinds of food they want.
Going to a 'Mela' in our childhood with our parents is one of the sweetest memories of every Indian.
