Love seeing those photos of just a lonely subject in focus while blurring the rest of the background? The Wider the aperture, the better yeo get this effect. But it has limits. Physical, scientific limits. Simply, you can't take a photo and have the object in the foreground, the object in the background, and have both in focus, blurring the rest. It's science, its the fact that these two things are on different plains. But let's see how to bend that rule. Its called Free Lensing. It sounds crazy, and it is. By detaching your lens from the body, you can bend those scientific rules, and achieve some really cool focal points. This is my first attempt. Many more to come. Enjoy

woah - these turned out cool. So how does this work - a slightly longer exposure and you move the lens during the exposure?
Not quite. Set you aperture to as wide as you can, exposure is the same as you would use in the setting and simply dismount your lens, allowing your camera body to work independently from the glass and with the right angles and such you can alter how the depth of field come out. The further away you have the lens from the body, you can really use light leakage as an advantage. This is essentially the predecessor of the tilt-shift lens market
ah cool, I hadn't really heard about this technique. You got some cool results!
Thanks! I only heard about it this week, thought id give it a try. Glad you enjoy, thanks
