WHAT I DO IN MY FREE TIME

(Selfie on one of the journeys)

A bit of an artsy post today!
I’m not running errands all the time, yes, some days are busier than others…. Some days I can’t catch a break. But, I do get days when I literally feel restless as there is nothing to do, and living in a remote location… doesn’t help.
So, todays post is dedicated to these days.
My life is pretty ironic at times, I could have a perfect balance of work and rest each day, like a responsible, down to earth adult. But being in a photography business, I either have everything happening at once, or nothing happening at all for a few days…. Ahh the joys!

Those days aren’t bad though, I mean, I like being busy, travelling to shoots, meeting clients etc. – but having a few days when I can utilize my time to do all the things I’ve been putting off is great also.
So, what do I do? Everything and anything creative to be honest….
Well, normally I plan trips…. To forests… to parks or mountains….. It’s my way of escaping reality and embracing nature, which is a big source of inspiration and relaxation for me.

(One of my sketchbooks/idea book)

If time/weather doesn’t permit, I stay at home, I organize my photos, which would be prints or digital files on hard-drive (no matter how hard I try, it feels like a never ending mess). I edit photos, that I kept putting off, I draw and brainstorm ideas for coming shoots in my sketchbook….. I make scrapbooks, I update all my social media accounts or read informative books to do with my profession…… and some days…. I just veg out and watch Netflix. These activities are accompanied by enormous amounts of coffee of course....There’s plenty more ....but these are the most common of my ‘free- day ‘ activities.

I think life of any artist is prone to be chaotic, the days are almost never the same and the work never really ends…. In my free time, I normally think of up-coming shoots or do stuff related to my profession. It’s great though, because it’s a privilege to be able to do something you’re absolutely bonkers about, every day!

It’s important however to have some time for yourself… rest and re-vitalize, to avoid burn out…. Just saying, I’ve been there! It’s important to catch a break, seek inspiration and have some fun! Life is short, so collecting little beautiful moments to look back on, is vital in my opinion! Sometimes it could be as simple as having a warm cup of coffee, and watching birds outside for a bit, just like in the photo above! Gotta enjoy the little things.... :)

I’m interested in hearing your artistic interest or viewpoints, so please comment if you can relate in any way!

Hope you enjoyed this post,
Cheers,
