Hi Steemians,
I really enjoy photography, however I am not a photographer myself. I've been following some photographers on Steemit who have some incredible pictures and have inspired me too. Photography isn't just about the picture itself, but it truly is an art form, I know some photographers myself and they are all very critical of their work, to me what seems to be a beautiful photo worthy of a gallery they deem unacceptable, pointing this out to me by zooming in to a tiny dot on the screen and stating that the image is blurry/pixelated. So I do have a lot to learn in the field!
Recently I came across a beautiful butterfly in flight photo taken by @myday and he challenged me (to a duel...just kidding...I'd loose) to take one myself, so I decided to venture out into the woods aka my garden and attempt this art form.
Please excuse the garden as it looks like I'm attempting to grow a forest, and without further ado here are my poor attempts.... it is very difficult to focus on a moving object.
I only have a very ancient digital camera (Nikon D3100), but it does the job for the time being, I'd like to invest in a better one or at least a better lens with wider aperture.

I'm impressed you took up the challenge @margojensen! Very good. I like how you managed to get some movement in the butterlies wings by using a slower shutter speed. My favorite though is the shot of the spider! I've never managed to capture a successful shot of one of these so well done! Keep practising and there is nothing wrong with that Nikon. Keep it just upgrade the lens when the time is right.
Thank you so much I really appreciate it! I have a lot of blurry outtakes hehe! Yeah I think I will try to practice more with the camera first then invest in an upgrade! You know what they say practice makes perfect :)! x
Also I am sure your spider photos would be fantastic :)! x
Haha I don't know about that. I think spiders are quite scary, especially the red back spiders here in Australia - they can kill you! Keep up the good photography :)
Yeah you're right I wouldn't want to risk it in Australia a lot of spider species are pretty dangerous. In the UK the most they'll do is scare you hehe! Thank you I will do! x
:)
Nice shots.
Thank you :)! x
Cool. Your pics look pretty good. For small objects, like insects, it's best to use a macro lens and when they're moving use a faster shutter speed to freeze the motion.
Thanks for the advice! x
Nice photo's... I am hoping to take the kiddies up to the neighbours today and get some baby animal pics of a Wombat and Possum. :)
That's so lovely I'm looking forwards to seeing the photos! I love baby animals I am one of those people who sits and watches hours of compilations of cute and funny animal videos! x
I love watching kittens..their antics are so funny!
Didn't get the pics today, will try again tomorrow :)
Aww they just melt your heart! When they're up I'll check them out, great activity for the kids to get involved in too :)! x
nice clicks
Thank you :)! You should see the number of out takes hehe!!! x
