Itaewon is a district in Seoul that is melting pot of different cultures, sub-cultures and new generation of youth.
You'll notice while walking around the area that it has a heavy western influence, with the modern Hip-Hop clubs, street fashion shops, tattoo parlors and bars scattered about Itaewon.
All of these establishments, with different themes from European influenced bars, to American style Hip-Hop nightclubs trying to draw you in and make you spend a bit of coin for the experience.
Personally having visited Itaewon on my own accord several times. I have come across people from all over the world. Perhaps because not to far away is a local U.S. ARMY base, Yongson, or all the wonderful Guest houses scattered across the city attracting foreigners to visit from afar.
I personally stayed overnight in a guest house. It was a clean, friendly environment and the owner was always there to point you in the right direction for good times, and paces to eat. I shared a room with a some gentlemen from Austria and Gemany. An we had exchanged some funny stories.
There are more then enough places grab a cold beverage if your the drinking type. Through all the alleyways and streets, you'll come across pubs galore the specialize in craft brews as well as the traditional ones.
Itaewon has it all, food, shopping, and nightlife. I reccomend you put it on your destination list when you do come visit Seoul. Perhaps you may get lucky and run into famous celebrities like Dean, a famous Korean R&B singer. He frequents Itaewon a lot.
