Farm Update: Little Harvest of Limes and Eggs

in #photography7 years ago

Things are still growing up here despite not putting in nearly as much work for the farm as we'd like. Lately it's been maintinence of birds without much else and for that reason my harvest today was limes and eggs. We put an enclosure beneath the lime tree this spring and it's paying off in a pretty good lime harvest for the size of the tree. This is just a fraction of the limes off of a tree that last year yielded less than ten limes total.

Harvest is still a harvest. Its nice to see that not everyone depends on grocery stores.

Aw, don't know why, but I love seeing your harvest of limes and eggs! Hmmm, Margarita breakfast? lol ;-) Seriously, tho...

@lily-da-vine, I love and respect all the LIFE that comes from your blog. And your hands.

Thank you :)

Honestly, the harvest was nice. The limes were super tasty smelling and the egg was great in breakfast.

I love how your still getting eggs this late in the season

I don't think my production will slow too much when winter hits, it's just too nice here.

Where do you stay?

I'm the least qualified person on earth to discuss gardening, but are you familiar with "square foot gardening"?
It's a great idea, but there may be all kinds of reasons why it would be unnecessary or inappropriate for you.
I'm told that some of the best books on the subject can be torrented, not that I would know anything about that.

We're familiar with that. Honestly, the lack of production is due to lack of motivation, not necessarily lack of knowledge of techniques.

Need more eggs! Nice photos!

Nothing like Fresh Eggs. We used to have our own fresh, free-range eggs, but plans changed. Now we can't wait to go back to El Salvador to have our own chickens and eggs and all the exotic fruit trees, which are producing fruit already. But we had few setbacks too with most of our fruit trees and chickens, but at the end it is so worth it.
Thanks for sharing your harvest, it reminds me how bad I want to go back to El Salvador. Upvoted and following so that I can see more of your harvest and your beautiful photos of Mexico and your recipes. Really enjoy your posts.

Hey thanks! We get a small amount of eggs currently for the number of birds we have but just having them around is pretty nice

You must be enjoying your harvests from you farm at this time . Happy farming to you 😊
