I'm drawn to the road and the camera is my vehicle for exploration. While cruising through my catalog from the past decade I found some memorable images taken on the road.
So why don't we do it in the road? That is the question for today.
Join me on this journey...
Above: taken on the road to Idlywild, California. It's an incredible drive straight up a windy narrow highway off of I-10 and up to an elevation of 8,000 feet.
In the coffee region of Colombia you can find people with their horses at the bar. The bartender comes out with a tray of shots called aguardiente. It's fucking strong and will knock your dick in the dirt.
On Hwy 60 on the way to Joshua Tree this girl was on the side of the road with a XXX sign. I guess she likes to do it in the road too.
Taken on California State Route 178 in the Sequoia National Forest with a long exposure. We had lights inside my truck and my friend drove while I did a 30 second exposure from the side of a mountain.
The old part of Vegas with a reflection in the water. I dig old Vegas, despise the new for some reason. I guess I prefer the analog days.
Sometimes I like to drive down old dirt roads while hanging out in the desert. This road just sucked me in and said, "Let's do it in the road"
Taken in the Mojave Desert...somewhere...
My grandfather used to deliver mail out in the country...rural route 60 near Oxford, Mississippi.
Photo of Amie Barsky on Hwy 1 in Malibu, California. I love her expression.
This was one of those moments where I looked down and had half a tank, no internet and no one in sight.
Kids catching a free ride in the night.
Wishing he still could do it in the road
Not much words can say about this one.
Colombian cowboy a little drunk in the road
Taken on a back street of St. Petersburg, Florida while visiting my parents. I had a shoot with local model, Raichel. Out of focus but I like the vibe.
Old Hwy 178 in Kernville, California. This was completely lit up by the full moon. It was pitch black outside. You never know what you're going to get with a long exposure like this.
Taken in Amsterdam while on bikes. I taught a workshop on lighting and we rented bikes to get around on. I went through a phase where I chopped up images in photoshop.
Finally I leave this fine journey of images with a picture of my truck taken in the fog somewhere in the San Gabriel mountains along Hwy 2.
