The past week or so we have been on a very fun family vacation with my husband's family. We drove down into California and then took a Mexican Riviera cruise from there.
On the way down, I managed to sneak a quick church into our daily plan as we drove through the city of St. George in Southern Utah.
I have been trying to capture at least 50 Holy Places this year and that has led me to scour every resource I can to find the ones I can get to in the next few months. I still had some places to see in Utah, and this was one of them.
The church itself is incredibly simple, I didn't even photograph the building as a whole.
I was there for the altar. The altar of this church, the St. George Catholic Church, has some really beautiful work. The wooden altar contains various saintly figures which are well carved and detailed with gilding and paint. Other gold accents, such as the dove and the rays of light in the center, add to its interesting features.
I was in and out, but it was worth the brief stop to see this work of art.
