Today I'm gonna take you on a walk in Rhodopi mountain in southern Bulgaria. These pictures are taken on the slopes over the village of Ravnogor.
We went there to visit some friends and we were amazed of the peace and tranquility one can feel there. The village is located on the north-west slopes of Rhodopi mountain, at altitude of 1350m. Ravnogor is situated over the land of the ancient Thracians. It is surrounded by mountain slopes, agricultural lands and the Thracian low-lands. According to a NASA's satellite research in 2003, the area of the village and up to 40km of its surroundings are the ecologically purest area on the Balkans.
The vast lands and beautiful nature are the perfect summer getaway.
We got up early in the morning, had a quick breakfast and hurried up to start our morning walk in the forest. The sun was shining and we could feel the freshness of the morning dew on the green young grass.
Here and there we could smell the scent of blossoming wild herbs.
Everything was magical. The puff of the wind, the small creatures buzzing here and there, the sounds of the forest..
Every little detail made us sink in the moment, become one with mother Earth.
We indulged in the small gifts of the mountain- wild berries...
...and little wild violets...
We finished our little hike at the top of the near mountain ridge, overlooking the village from above.
Thank you for visiting my blog, see you next time.
