Existential Rant #1

Beneath every smile, there's pain. And this, within itself, is completely understandable, for there is no such thing as life without hardship. However, why is it that we often work so hard to avoid being true to not just others, but also ourselves? Sadness, like many things, becomes exponentially more burdensome with time. Knowing this, one would think it would be instinctual for us to turn to the light as quickly as possible, wanting to move on with our lives. Sadly, we all know the opposite is true, and we allow for our problems to eat on us, not wanting to face them. This is just one big survival tactic, instilled in us throughout the past thousands of years. In the wild, making yourself vulnerable is asking for death. Now that we live in a reformed society, it is only right to let go, make yourself vulnerable, and realize something we all know subconsciously: we really aren't all that different.

👋🏽 Hello @moonleesteem! Any more Haiku contests?

I feel you on a lot of this. Taking the time to recognizing your feels is the first step towards making these feeling work for you. I don't mean to imply that people should not feel these feelings, but all feelings are temporary--both good and bad feelings, but what you do with those feelings can last a lifetime.

Good point! We often get to comfortable with just be settling for the average when we can accomplish much more just to avoid the pain sometimes comes with change.
