Here are some photos I recently took of this beautiful Red-bellied Woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus). I've seen (and heard) this woodpecker several times around as of late and I've finally managed to capture some great photos using only a smartphone/app, seeds and a homemade feeder.

What do you love most about feeding/watching birds?
Nice pics! I have a woodpecker outside my house pecking away at my telephone pole on a daily basis. It's annoying as hell but, so great to watch! One of these days, he's probably going to electrocute himself!
