Today in the Christian world officially begins the Holy Week. Easter to me is a period just like Christmas, very special. A time to reflect, feed the soul and renew our faith. Here in Recife, the movement in the markets for the purchase of fish, which is the main ingredient of Easter lunch is already intense, as well as the sale of wine and chocolate eggs moves the shopping centers.

Very common here is buying fish to make Easter recipes. Fish cooked with coconut milt, fish rice, etc...all lunch food during Easter is based on fish.

But this party is far beyond consumerism, drinking and eating. For me, how a Christian is the time to reflect on the sacrifice of Christ, his life, his cowardly sentence and his consequent death on the cross. His death on the cross is not the death we know, the end of everything, but a rebirth or birth of our faith. He should have died, that we may have lived, as the Bible tells us.

With the beginning of the Holy Week festivities today, I will cover a photojournalism agenda of an event that will take place in the center of Recife which is the "Way of the Cross". The "Way of the Cross" is a walk of faithful Catholics, a procession where the sufferings of Jesus are remembered in 13 seasons until his crucifixion. A very beautiful ritual, deep and very spiritual and I will certainly post some photos about how this event was here in blog.

A Good start to Easter for everyone!

I live that colors of the church!!

Easter is indeed a very special time for Christians...It is the resurrection of our Lord.

Saint Teresa Church is beautiful. I always enjoy Mass a little more when I get the chance to experience it in an older Church. The pews are usually a lot less comfortable but the visuals make up for it.

Yes @gregory-f the beauty is very great. I have not been to mass for some time, but this holy week I will do my best to go, it is important.
