Yes sir it is very practical plus many of our tv stations and radio stations and signage in the stores have Spanish. I thought about German but I heard you have to be deranged to learn that!
I don't think you could make use of German when most of the people around you speak Spanish unless you want to move to Austria or Germany 😉

That's a cool idea - learning the language of the countries you want to visit, at least the most important phrases plus some more, just to be better than the average tourist who can order a drink and ask for the way ;)
