During my last visit to the Šunikov water grove in the Lepena valley, I took some waterfall photos, of course, but I noticed this actually beautiful piece of driftwood on my walk between the streams. | Bei meinem letzten Besuch im Šunikov Wasserhain im Lepena Tal habe ich natürlich einige Wasserfallfotos gemacht, aber auf meinem Spaziergang zwischen den Bächen ist mir dieses eigentlich wunderschöne Stück Treibholz aufgefallen. |

It is probably a kind of rhizome with several tree trunks that have grown out of it, as such mossy trees can often be seen at the streams in this area. But I have no idea what kind of tree it is (as usual ;). | Es dürfte sich um einen Wurzelstock mit mehreren daraus hervorgewachsenen Baumstämmen sein, wie man sie oft moosbewachsen in dieser Gegend an den Bächen sehen kann. ps. forgot to tell you yesterday -- I also love to explore driftwood very much. some pieces me and my wife grabbed thru years at the Ladoga skerries, we could not even part with them - we keep them at our home, despite of !DERANGED lack of space, as we are not a !MARLIANS shop.

I do have very little space too, because we are living in an apartment, but I too have a few small pieces of driftwood and dry wood I have found in the forests. They always make a nice decoration :)

Holz ist sowieso etwas Tolles - Treibholz ist noch mal eine Klasse für sich. Ein schönes Fundstück, das du sicher mitgenommen hast. LG
Ja, ich mag solche Stücke auch gerne - sie haben meistens eine inteessante Oberfläche und Form.
Nein, ich habe das Teil nicht mitgenommen, weil es erstens zu groß gewesen wäre und zweitens sind da noch mehr Äste nach hinten gewesen, wo sich das ganze Stück mit anderem Treibgut verkeilt hat. Die Größe war aber der Hauptgrund, weil mein Auto ein ziemliches Stück weit weg geparkt war und ich in einer Wohnung lebe, wo das schöne Stück nur im Weg gewesen wäre. Ich habe aber ein paar kleinere Stücke zu Hause :)

For an aquarium this piece would have been quite too big - it was about 1.5 meters high ;)
There are always some nice pieces of old and dry wood in the forests or driftwood at lakes or rivers, and some are small enough to take them home as nice decoration.

zugegeben es gehört schon etwas Fantasie dazu das zu erkennen. Aber in dem Wissen, das alles lebt, sehe ich solche Dinge eben.

I have seen tables and chairs made of driftwood in a store or magazines, but I have never seen one in a house or an apartment of anybody I know.
